Actor Jackie Chan will always advocate for performing his own stunts in his action films. The star, who has provided movie enthusiasts and fans worldwide with numerous action flicks, particularly in the Karate Kid series, stated that he has no intentions of altering this fact anytime soon. After a 15-year hiatus from the Karate Kid franchise, the 71-year-old actor is returning to his role as Mr. Han in the new installment, The Karate Kid: Legends.

What Jackie Chan mentioned about performing action

In a discussion during worldwide promotions, Jackie Chan remarked, “Of course, I always perform my own stunts. It’s who I am. That’s not going to change until the day I retire, which is never! And to be honest, when you’ve been doing it for 64 years continuously, there is no physical prep anymore. It’s all in your heart and soul; it is muscle memory. ”

‘I’m not promoting anyone to endanger their lives’

The star also reflected on how much technology has enhanced the stunt work in films. He continued, “In the past, the only (option we had) was to be present and jump; that was it. Nowadays, with computers, actors can accomplish anything, but there’s always a certain reality that feels absent. It’s a double-edged sword. On one side, actors become increasingly capable of performing impossible stunts with the assistance of technology, and yet, on the other side, the idea of risk and limits becomes hazy, and the audience becomes indifferent (to it). But I’m not promoting anyone to endanger their lives to perform stunts like I did; it truly is far too perilous. ”

The Karate Kid: Legends is scheduled for release in theaters on May 30.
