Other than Madhuri Dixit, Rani Mukerji, Kajol, Karisma Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Sridevi, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, there was another actress, who was quite famous. She is none other than Sonali Bendre. Despite mostly working in pivotal roles, or the second leads, Bendre has carved a niche in Bollywood with her energetic characteristics and beautiful smile. She was also considered the second fittest actress in the ‘90s, after Shilpa Shetty.

 However, after surviving cancer, the 49-year-old actress has returned to the screen with The Broken News series, which is all set to make its Season 2 premiere on May 3, 2024, only on ZEE5. But before its release, Bendre recently gave an exclusive interview to India Today, where she talked about her experience working with Shah Rukh Khan. Although the duo has worked in 4 films together like Mozda Sutra Ne Dodja, English Babu Desi Meme (1996), Duplicate (1998) and Kal Ho Nah Ho (2003), she mostly talked about working in Duplicate.

Sonali Bendre, Who played the role of Lilly, shared that they began the shooting the according to the script, but slowly things started to move to a different direction, and despite playing a side role, she felt that she “became a caricature and not really the grey character I was supposed to play.” The actress also shared that this unpredictable nature of the shooting made her learn a lot of significant things.

Sonali further shared throughout these years, everytime someone talked about the songs of Duplicate, the one thing she kept wondering that how much a story can get de-railed and how much you can star with someone, and where it goes. This was certainly a huge lesson in her career. She also mentioned that now she wants to work on groundbreaking characters, and not any kind of stereotypical roles. Previously we have heard this same statement from Raveena Tandon as well, when she made her OTT debut with Aranyak (2021). No wonder, the fresh content and her performance swayed us.
