Who was Amar Singh Chamkila and what's his story?

Talking about Amar Singh Chamkila, the film is a biological drama that tells the story of Punjab's original rockstar Amar Singh Chamkila (played by Diljit Dosanjh), and his wife Amarjot (played by Parineeti Chopra). After gaining popularity for his songs and becoming a hit, he faced backlash for his choice of lyrics which mainly talked about affairs, drugs, and drinking. The couple's lives ended on a tragic note as both were shot by unknown assailants on March 8, 1988, just before their performance in Punjab's Mehsampur.

Amar Singh Chamkila is currently streaming on Netflix.
