The air these days is filled with the resonance of Amar Singh Chamkila, a name that has been playing on almost everyone’s lips. The film, which stars the multi-talented Diljit Singh in the titular role, has the actress Parineeti Chopra as the leading lady. Ever since the time the film has been released, the audiences have been simply raving about the film and the performances of the actors in the film, esp. the leading pair of Diljit Singh and Parineeti Chopra.

Who has the real story?

Speaking of Parineeti Chopra in the film Amar Singh Chamkila, a video of hers is fast becoming viral which had been uploaded by a user on Reditt, which has two versions highlighting the requirement for the said role. While the first version belongs to the film's director Imtiaz Ali, the other version belongs to the film's leading lady Parineeti Chopra.

"She looks even a lot like Amarjot..."

The film's director Imtiaz Ali, in an interview (with Connect FM Canada) said that “She (referring to Parineeti Chopra) looks even a lot like Amarjot.”. On the other hand, there was Parineeti Chopra herself in another interview (with India Today), wherein she said that, “I was very fit. And he (referring to Imtiaz Ali) said, ‘Listen, you don’t look like her. And main darr gayeee thi. (I got scared).

Then, there was yet another interview (with Netflix this time), where, Imtiaz Ali (while referring to Parineeti Chopra and her resemblance to the character role of Amarjot Kaur) said ‘She is a singer, she is a Punjabi and her face also resembles. She had increased her weight (read ‘put on weight’) around 7 kgs or 10 kgs. She had gained a lot of weight”.

Besides all this, there is Parineeti Chopra who is seen telling (in the aforementioned interview), “When Imtiaz sir said, this is a film where you have to sing live on set, you have to put on 20 kilos for this… 16 kilos I ended up putting. You have to put on 20 kilos for this film, you should not have a patch of makeup on your face. You have to sort of look your worst!”.

As for the film Amar Singh Chamkila, besides Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra, the film also stars Apinderdeep Singh, Nisha Bano, Rahul Mittra, Anjum Batra and Udaybir Sandhu in important roles. The film was released on Netflix on April 12 this year. The film’s music has been composed by the ‘music maestro’ A. R. Rahman.
