Three of the top-grossing Hindi films from the past three calendar years share little in common. One is a violent revenge narrative, another is a dubbed pan-Indian action film, and the latest is a historical drama. They vary significantly in their settings, timeframes, and even the film industries they represent. However, they are united by one key element: the female lead. Rashmika Mandanna has starred in Animal, Pushpa 2: The Rule, and Chhaava, all of which have achieved remarkable success at the box office.

Rashmika Mandanna's impressive box office feat

Over the past 16 months, Rashmika has had three theatrical releases, each of which has become a major blockbuster. Together, these films have grossed over ₹3300 crore at the box office, with Chhaava still contributing to its ₹700-crore total. Notably, Rashmika, who has roots in Kannada and Telugu cinema, has also made a significant impact in the Hindi film market. All three films—Animal, Pushpa 2, and Chhaava—have set collection records in Hindi. Pushpa 2 garnered ₹812 crore net in Hindi, Animal earned ₹503 crore, and Chhaava has already reached ₹532 crore. This total of ₹1850 crore positions Rashmika as the highest-grossing Bollywood star in recent history.

How Rashmika Mandanna beat veterans and contemporaries

For years, following Priyanka Chopra's relocation to the United States, Deepika Padukone has been the dominant figure at the Bollywood box office, facing some competition from Katrina Kaif and Kangana Ranaut. In the newer generation, Alia Bhatt has emerged as a frontrunner. However, none of these stars have been able to keep pace with Rashmika's box office success over the last two years. Deepika has come close, with her five films collectively earning over ₹1800 crore in Hindi since 2023. In contrast, Alia's films have only generated ₹300 crore in India during the same timeframe.

Rashmika Mandanna's 2025 prospects

Some may contend that the achievements of these films cannot be solely credited to Rashmika, as the prominence of the male leads significantly contributed to their success. However, this argument is equally applicable to many films featuring Deepika or Kareena during the same timeframe. Rashmika's emergence as a preferred choice for major films alongside superstars is a testament to her development in the industry. She is set to release Salman Khan's Sikandar, which is expected to enhance her box office performance. Additionally, the 28-year-old actress has Maddock's horror-comedy Thama and the pan-India action film Kubera in her upcoming projects.
