Alia Bhatt finally made her Met Gala 2024 red carpet appearance and is slaying it in a Sabyasachi saree. The actress represented Indian culture by wearing the saree while following the theme of ‘The Garden of Time.’ Her look has been winning the internet over (well, mostly) but the netizens were here, ready to draw their swords. One user commented that the actress has the best choice except when it comes to selecting a husband. Alia is married to Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor.

The comments

While most comments, including those from Alia’s mother Soni Razdan and sister Shaheen Bhatt, were about her eating and leaving no crumbs, there were a few that drew the sword and were out for blood. One user commented, “Girlie has the best taste in everything except choosing a husband who was also her boyfriend.” Another called her the Indian version of Bridgerton, while the third found nothing newer than what Deepika and Katrina wore for the designer, Sabyasachi.

Alia’s look

Alia wore a Sabyasachi saree with an extremely long train. The saree had intricate detailing and stuck to the theme of the night, The Garden of Time. She chose ivory with golden detailing, contemporary tassle and maangtika on a messy bun to become the highlight of the event. “We focused on intricate craftsmanship, incorporating hand embroidery, precious stones, along with elegant beadwork and fringes, distinctive of the 1920’s fringe style,” Alia wrote while sharing the pics.

Isha Ambani also representing India at the gala

Like Alia, Isha Ambani also represented India at the Met Gala by donning a saree by designer Rahul Mishra. It was gold all the way for her, right from the saree to jewellery, sling and even make-up. Isha chose to talk about The Garden of Time through the train on her saree. The same was made from past works of the designer. The embroidery techniques used on the saree were Fareesha, Zardozi, Nakshi, French Knots and Dabka.
