Aadujeevitham, the survival drama which hit the big screens on February 28, 2024, has already earned the blockbuster status at the box office. The movie, which marked the first onscreen collaboration of Prithviraj Sukumaran and senior director Blessy, has been receiving immense love from both the common audiences and the film industry members. Meanwhile, in a recent interview with The Cue Studio, the famous director extensively spoke about Aadujeevitham, and made some interesting revelations about Prithviraj Sukumaran’s transformation for the film.

Blessy says Prithviraj Sukumaran surprised him with his transformation for Aadujeevitham

In his recent chat with The Cue Studio, director Blessy opened up about Prithviraj Sukumaran’s performance in the film. According to the director, writer Benyamin who watched the film, told him that he was unable to see the actor in any scene. The novelist felt that Prithviraj completely moulded himself as Najeeb, and Blessy considers it the best compliment for the film. The Goat Life director revealed that the talented actor completely understood the assignment and made sure that no parts of his real-life personality were visible in his portrayal of Najeeb.

Initially, Blessy was worried about getting Prithviraj Sukumaran into playing a shy and under-confident, small-town man who just has the elementary education. It was mainly because of the actor’s real-life personality. According to Blessy, Prithviraj, in real-life is a very well-read and extremely confident man, and it can be clearly seen in his eyes. So, the first instruction the director gave the actor, is to bring Najeeb’s personality into his eyes. The actor, on the other hand, surprised the senior filmmaker by going through an extraordinary transformation, not just with his body weight, but also with his expressions, mannerisms, body language, and dialogue delivery.

When it comes to Prithviraj Sukumaran’s weight loss journey, Blessy was very clear that he wants the actor to gain some extra kilos for the flashback portions. It is mainly because Najeeb is someone who enjoys good food, like Porottas and Beef curry. That is the reason why Prithviraj weighed over 98 kilos, when he played the character’s early life. Later, the actor had to go through an extreme weight loss journey and shed over 31 kilos, to portray the ordeal the character goes through after he gets stranded in the desert.
