Rohini Vrat is considered an arduous task as people observing the fast have to go without eating for the entire length of the day and conclude their fast only the next day at the end of the Rohini Nakshatra.

  • On the day of the fast, women wake up early in the morning and take a bath.
  • An idol or photograph of one of Jain God Vasupujya is kept in the puja area.
  • The idol is washed and purified and is offered flowers, sandalwood, bhog followed by puja of God Vasupujya and Lord Surya.
  • A sankalp of fast is taken and fasting begins post puja that goes on till Margashirsha Nakshatra begins the next morning.
  • Rohini katha is read during the day along with chanting of Rohini mantras. Food and clothes are donated to poor and needy.
