Mohini Ekadashi vrat katha

Long ago, near the banks of the Sarasvati river, there existed a thriving city named Bhadrawati, governed by the wise and fair King Dyutimaan. Among the inhabitants was a affluent merchant referred to as Dhanpal, recognized for his kindness and devotion to Lord Vishnu. Although Dhanpal had five sons, his youngest son was wayward, associating himself with bad company, including a prostitute. Upon discovering his son's conduct, Dhanpal cast him out of the home, and the youth was shunned by everyone in the town.

Mohini Ekadashi's story follows a sinful boy who, after being cast out, finds redemption through the fast of Ekadashi.

Left without shelter and impoverished, he wasted his riches and turned to theft. Even though the king initially showed him mercy, he continued his wicked behavior and was ultimately expelled from the kingdom. While wandering in the forest, he began killing animals to survive. Overcome with guilt and remorse, he came across the ashram of Sage Kauntinya. When a few drops of consecrated bathwater from the sage touched him, the boy experienced a transformation in his heart and sought redemption.

The kind sage instructed him to observe the fast of Mohini Ekadashi, which occurs during the Shukla Paksha of Vaisakha. The boy kept the fast with genuine devotion, and gradually, his heart was cleansed. He became dedicated to Lord Vishnu and ultimately achieved liberation, his sins eradicated.
