Dil Bechara: You Can’t Help But Fall Helplessly In Love With Sushant Singh Rajput

The whole time I was looking forward to watching Dil Bechara, I knew it was going to be a tough watch. Seeing Sushant Singh Rajput flash that wide, charming smile on screen did hurt a little more every time. But then, it also felt like this big, warm embrace, bringing a smile to my face. Strange how something can be so heartbreaking, yet heartwarming, no? That is exactly what Dil Bechara was to me in a nutshell.

Sushant breathed life into Manny and made him so endearing and loveable that not just Kizzie, but the entire world watching couldn’t help but fall head over heels for him. Manny is such a happy guy, radiating positivity and forcing Kizzie (Sanjana Sanghi) to discover Rajinikanth‘s films and open up to life. He had been masking his pain, all while making everyone around him happy and living life to the fullest, until the end. So many times, just all this and the lines in the film come so close to reality, it sometimes feels like these were things Sushant was saying himself.

Casting director Mukesh Chhabra, who made his directorial debut with this film, has said previously that Sushant agreed to do the film even without reading the script. And you can really see how Mukesh might have had only Sushant in mind while writing it because no one else could have been Manny. This Hindi adaptation of John Green‘s novel, The Fault In Our Stars, takes us into Manny and Kizzie‘s world, which is so colourful, endearing and heartbreaking.

Watch Dil Bechara because it is a celebration — of the effortless talent that Sushant had to light up the screen. It’s a celebration of his spirit and his passion for his craft, and that is what we will always remember him for.
